This five-day trip for wildlife and birdwatching covers the varied ecosystems of Gujarat, starting from the arrival in Vadodara. You will be taken to see the wonderful forests of Jambughoda Wildlife Sanctuary,y and then you will go to the big expanse of grasslands of Velavadar National Park. The park is famous for the Blackbuck antelope, grassland birds, and other animals of the wild. The itinerary integrates guided nature walks, birdwatching, and safari experiences, thus getting you very close to the unique biodiversity of Gujarat before the tour ends at Ahmedabad.
Itinerary Overview
Day 01: Arrival at Vadodara and drive to Jambughoda Wildlife Sanctuary

Arrival at Vadodara airport or railway station, meet your representative, and begin your scenic drive to Jambughoda Wildlife Sanctuary. The journey passes through rural landscapes and forested stretches, offering a gentle introduction to Gujarat’s natural beauty.
On arrival, check in at your lodge. After lunch and some rest, spend the afternoon exploring the surroundings with a nature walk or relaxed birdwatching around the property. As evening approaches, enjoy the tranquil forest atmosphere and keep an eye out for wildlife activity.

Day 02: Jambughoda Wildlife Sanctuary

Begin the day early with a guided morning nature walk or birdwatching session inside Jambughoda Wildlife Sanctuary, when wildlife activity is at its peak. Explore the sanctuary’s mixed deciduous forests, riverine habitats, and grasslands, home to a variety of resident and migratory birds, butterflies, and small mammals. Return to the lodge for breakfast and leisure time.
In the afternoon, head out for an exploration of forest trails and nearby water bodies, offering excellent opportunities for photography and observation. The evening is spent at leisure, enjoying the peaceful forest surroundings.

Day 03: Jambughoda to Velavadar National Park

Accommodation: Blackbuck Safari Lodge
After an early breakfast, check out from your lodge and drive to Velavadar (4.5 hours). The journey offers changing landscapes as forested hills give way to open grasslands.
On arrival, check in at your hotel. After lunch and some rest, proceed for an afternoon safari inside Velavadar National Park, famous for its large herds of Blackbuck, as well as wolves, foxes, and a rich diversity of grassland birds. As the sun sets over the vast plains, enjoy excellent wildlife viewing and photography opportunities.

Day 04: Velavadar National Park
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner
Accommodation: Blackbuck Safari Lodge
Enjoy a full day of birding in Velavadar National Park with guided morning and afternoon safaris, exploring this compact yet remarkably unique grassland ecosystem. Guests may also opt to take the safari in their own vehicle, allowing extended time inside the park for deeper observation and photography. Originally established for the conservation of the Blackbuck, Velavadar is also home to key predators such as the Indian Grey Wolf and the Golden Jackal, along with other mammals including Bengal Fox, Indian Hare, Indian Desert Gerbil, Jungle Cat, and Nilgai.
Velavadar is especially rewarding for birdwatchers, with excellent chances to spot birds of prey such as Montagu’s Harrier, Pallid Harrier, Black-winged Kite, Shikra, and Short-toed Snake Eagle. The grasslands and scrub also host species like Stoliczka’s Bushchat, Ashy-crowned Sparrow-Lark, Rufous-tailed and Crested Larks, Desert and Variable Wheatears, and Southern Grey and Rufous-tailed Shrikes. Seasonal wetlands along the Alag River attract Common Cranes and a variety of waders, adding further diversity to the day’s sightings.
Return to the resort after the safaris for relaxation, followed by dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 05: Velavadar to Ahmedabad and Departure

After breakfast, check out from the hotel and proceed with your transfer to Ahmedabad airport or railway station for your onward journey, carrying back wonderful memories of your trip.
